AlkapHi Water Drops: Drink for a vibrant health

Alkaline water has been linked with many health benefits, that range from regulating the body’s pH to preventing chronic ailments and boosting immunity.

What kind of water are you drinking? And why does it matter?

Health experts recommend drinking 2-3 litres of water every day to eliminate acidic waste and other toxins from the body. Drinking enough water is a natural and safe strategy to manage some conditions like constipation, acne and even weight loss. Needless to say, the quality and pH of water is, therefore, a big deal.

But first, what is pH and what is all the hype about maintaining a healthy pH balance?

pH Primer

The actual meaning of pH is “power of hydrogen.” pH is the measure of alkalinity or acidity of a substance on the scale of 0 to 14. Anything above 7.0 is considered to be alkaline, and anything below this level is acidic in nature.

Technically speaking, a fluid contains both H+ (hydrogen) and OH- (hydroxide) ions. pH is the measure of the amount of hydrogen ions (H+) in a fluid. If a solution has more hydrogen ions than OH- ions, it will be acidic (low pH); for example, orange juice, lemon juice, vinegar, coke and black coffee. Similarly, a solution with more OH- ions will be alkaline (high pH); for example, baking soda.

Pure water has a neutral pH value of 7. And alkaline water will have a pH value higher than normal drinking water.

Balance is the key

pH levels in the body are not constant. These values vary from fluid to fluid and system to system. Each bodily function is controlled by a set of bio-chemical reactions, which require a certain pH to work. For example, a healthy skin has a pH value of 5.5. This slightly acidic environment is necessary to destroy germs that try to invade the body via the skin.

However, the digestive tract has pH values that vary depending on the stage of digestion. The stomach secretes hydrochloric acid or HCl to ensure proper digestion of food and also to destroy harmful pathogens in the gut. Before this semi-digested food enters the small intestine, the pancreas discharges alkaline fluids to neutralize the acid that can otherwise damage the intestines. Mucosa in these parts cannot withstand a high acidic environment, thus the pH in this lies in the range of 7.0 to 8.5.

One thing is certain, both acids an important role in the body. So, the goal is to maintain the overall pH within the optimum range required by the body to carry out its functions. And usually our body is very efficient in achieving this goal on its own.

The problem arises when we are overexposed to acidic elements in amounts more than our body is naturally equipped to deal with – resulting in acidosis.

Unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, stress, environmental exposure and overuse of antibiotics and other drugs, are some factors that work together toward creating a perpetually acidic environment in the body.

pH imbalance: Root cause of disease and illness

Initially, the body strives to deal with excess acidity by using alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus, typically stored in our bones and muscles. However, with continuous exposure to factors that promote acidity, our body soon runs out of these minerals.  Adding fuel to the fire is the lack of a nutrient rich diet that could otherwise compensate for the mineral loss.

When the body has depleted its mineral stores, joint and bone health suffers – leading to conditions like muscle pain, fatigue, arthritis and osteoporosis. Moreover, too much acid can damage the bone cartilage over time.

Excessive acid in the digestive system causes numerous digestive problems including bloating, indigestion, acid reflux and nausea. Lack of alkaline minerals also puts too much pressure on the pancreas.

Unhealthy pH levels create a conducive environment for microbial growth – leading to supressed immunity, opportunistic infections and diseases. Cancer cells and other diseases can easily thrive in an acidic body. As the famous scientist Antoine Béchamp puts it, “The germ is nothing, the terrain is everything.” Simply put, microbes don’t stand a chance of growing and spreading if the body is in the optimum pH range.

Inflammation is another by-product of an acidic environment, which can give rise to a number of chronic diseases, including plaque formation within the arteries and leading to heart attack and even stroke.

A 2012 review published in Nutrition and Metabolism gives some solid insights into the increased risk of cancer, as a result of acid imbalance. The article writes that the acid-base disequilibrium can alter molecular activity “including adrenal glucocorticoid, insulin growth factor (IGF-1), and adipocyte cytokine signaling, dysregulated cellular metabolism, and osteoclast activation”, factors that can promote cancer or tumour formation [1].

Summing it up, acidosis can cause:

  1. Digestive disorders
  2. Cardiovascular and circulatory problems
  3. Impaired immunity
  4. Respiratory disorders (asthma, mucus build-up)
  5. Joint disorders (arthritis, osteoporosis)
  6. Muscle aches, fatigue, lack of energy
  7. Toxic build-up
  8. Skin problems
  9. Low-grade inflammation (resulting in chronic diseases)

AlkapHi Drops

Water drops to make your more alkaline

While the over-acidification of the body can cause a host of health disorders, the good news is that many of these problems are reversible. You can restore your pH levels by adopting healthier lifestyle and food choices.

The most important change you can make is to your diet. Reducing or eliminating processed foods, refined sugars, and dairy while eating more fruits, vegetables, probiotics- and nutrient-dense foods is important.

Adding AlkapHi drops to your water is another practical and effective strategy to achieve a healthy acid-base balance.

What are the benefits of drinking alkaline water?

A 2012 study showed that alkaline water, with a pH 8.8, denatures pepsin, making it inactive. Pepsin is the main digestive enzyme that helps to digest proteins by breaking them down into smaller peptides. While the enzyme remains stable at pH 7, it is activated by acid. Pepsin is known to cause acid reflux – the backward flow of the acidic contents of the stomach into the esophagus that damages the protective mucosa of the esophagus, larynx, and the pharynx.

The study showed that alkaline water acts as a good acid-buffer and also soothes the acid reflux by deactivating pepsin, concluding that “the consumption of alkaline water may have therapeutic benefits for patients with reflux disease.” [2]

In addition to soothing acid reflux, alkaline water offsets excessive acidity in the bloodstream. This increases the oxygen levels in the blood – improving metabolism and energy levels.

Alkaline water also encourages the elimination of harmful toxins and acidic waste from the body. This helps to cleanse colon, blood and other organs including the skin – making it appear clear, healthy and rejuvenated.

Overall, alkaline water creates a healthy terrain that doesn’t allow harmful micro-organisms to flourish, while hydrating the body and getting rid of toxins and other waste.

Why should you use AlkapHi Drops?

AlkapHi drops make water alkaline rich and helps to:

  1. Balance body’s overall pH
  2. Detoxify
  3. Improve energy levels
  4. Maintain digestive health
  5. Strengthen immunity
  6. Hydrate the body
  7. Neutralize free radicals (as alkaline water readily gives up electrons)
  8. Create an oxygenated environment (where most diseases including cancer can’t thrive)

A word of caution: If you are suffering from a kidney disorder, refrain from using alkaline drops.

So next time you’re ready to sip some water, add a few drops of AlkapHi and drink to a vibrant health.
